Hey Oklahoma City, want to know the truth about lawn dye?! You see it everywhere during the winter months around here. What is it? Why do companies use it? Blue vs Green dye, what is the difference? I will answer all these questions and let you in on some of the secrets of the weed control industry of Oklahoma City.
What is tracker dye?
Tracker dye is just a coloring agent (think food coloring) to give the liquid spray solution a visible tint. Some Companies use it; some don’t.
Why do companies use it?
The original purpose of dye was intended just as a pattern indicator to show you what areas have or have not been sprayed. Some companies however use it more for marketing and less for the intended purpose. You will see yards in the area soaked in dye that will last for weeks. I don’t believe that is necessary and while I could forgo the dye entirely, I do like the piece of mind a light, properly used dye provides for my clients.
Blue vs Green what is the difference?
Besides the obvious color difference; COST! Blue dye is cheaper them green and this is why you will usually (not always) see the over soaked yards done in blue.
